Description:

Very unique and beautiful John Widdicomb Made by John Widdicomb Company of Grand Rapids, Michigan whom has been in business since 1858. Nice banded look to the top of this chest and the front drawers. There are 4 drawers with brass hardware that all matches on it. Then there are brass faux key lock escutcheons between the drawer pulls on each drawer. The chest dates to the mid-1960s to 1970s.

The model # for the Widdicomb Chest is model # 25300. A rare and hard to find model. 18th century colonial design to the chest. The top of the chest has a beautiful inlaid wood design around the whole perimeter. Same inlaid wood design on the front curved drawers of the chest. Some minor dings to the piece and some minor surface scratching on the top, the chest still looks outstanding. The chest have a continental design with bracket feet. The drawer joints are dovetailed. The chest is made of mahogany and rosewood. Not sure about the top inlay if just different stains or other types of wood. Beautiful applied carvings on the two front corners.
